About the Tef Imrpovement Project

The Tef Improvement Project led by Zerihun Tadele at the University of Bern and in collaboration with the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research in Ethiopiais (EIAR) is dedicated to improving yield, drought and other abiotic stress resistance of Eragrostis tef. Using molecular techniques as well as traditional breeding, the goal is to provide subsitance farmers in Ethiopia with new cultivars in a timely fashion. The project is supported by the Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture, the University of Bern and the Systems X Project.
